Aubrey Turns Two!!!

Pondering life as a two year old…

Until you are a parent, it is hard to describe or completely understand that special love you have for your children. As each day passes, that love gets even stronger. It is an unconditional love that makes every moment joyous and exciting. I feel like we have worked hard to soak up and cherish every second Aubrey is on loan to us and really embrace the opportunities to create memories, yet the time seems to get away from us so quickly. It seems like only yesterday that we were snuggling with her tightly between us at night and changing the newborn diapers in awe of how tiny she was. I remember the day she melted my heart with her first sweet giggle and when she learned to give kisses and hugs. I remember how shocked we were at her first word (dog). I remember the moment she pulled herself up to a standing position and how excited we were when she took her first steps. Now she is 2 and I still can't believe how fast the time flies!

Aubrey turned two on June 3rd and I headed down to Oceanside and took her to the beach for the first time this year. We had a fun-filled day with some old friends and for the first time since her birth, I actually enjoyed the beach! Last year, our times at the beach weren’t very fun as she was just learning to walk and she was all over the place. She put everything in her mouth (including sand) and wouldn’t just sit down and play in the sand. Needless to say, our trips to the beach were a rarity. This time she was reluctant to just run out into the water without an adult and she loved just sitting in her beach chair eating snacks or sitting down playing in the sand. When we returned from the beach we took her out to a birthday dinner at Red Robin. She enjoyed all the attention when they sang to her.

Trying to carry all of her stuff…
